A Web Site for Political Independents
This column is for all Americans. You helped a fellow American, me – however unknowingly - and I've never forgotten it.
I created this to make it easier for you to evaluate the information you need to keep your world a little more sane. It's geared for the tired, overworked and underappreciated American. That description includes all races, religions, political parties and income levels.
Maybe somewhere in my work you will find something that helps you.
A few specifics – every one a real person:
This column is for the off duty cop that stopped my mother the night she was too drunk to drive and I was too little to stop her.
This is for the minister and police chief that tried to help her.
This is for the doctors that kept me alive in the course of their normal day.
This is for the nurses that helped the doctors and comforted me when I felt alone in the universe.
This is for the man that wouldn't stand for three against one.
This is for the boss that cared as much as I did.
This is for the convenience store man that insisted on making me laugh.
This is for the mailman that walked back up the hill to give me my mail.
This is for the mechanic that kept fixing my mistakes without laughing (too much).
This is for the highway patrolman that kept me from getting hit by a car after the accident.
This is for the man that gave me money without my knowledge simply because I needed it.
This is for the wordless farmer that stopped with a gallon of gas.
This is for the firemen that searched for the puppy that I wouldn't go to the hospital until I found.
This is for the cop that let the neighborhood boy know he would not tolerate shooting the raccoons and cats with beebees.
This is for the veterinarian that looked into a child's hand and said, "Why, that's exactly how much it costs to fix a kitty's ears."
This is for the doctors and nurses that broke into cheers when the catheter was finally in.
This is for the teacher that said, "You know, you should consider being a writer."
This is for the soldiers at the next table that stood up and convinced a nasty man that he had somewhere else to be.
This is for my mother. However good or bad you were, you loved me and I miss you.
This is for my brother. You taught me to defend myself and others.
This is for my love. I couldn't do it without you.
Peace
The Political Stray
The Political Stray was started by an citizen/author fed up with the media created divisions of the American people. Although Americans will get into heated debates, they have never been divided. It is through this unflagging unity that America stays true.
The political stray is political commentary, yes - but it's more. It's commentary that dares to be honest rather than cool and that dares to throw out ideas, no matter how silly, as starting points for solutions.
Warning: The Political Stray avoids unfair attacks but spares no one. If, we should offend a group you are a member of, take heart - If we are to accomplish anything, we must at some point, offend everyone.
We encourage you to use your anger to help formulate solutions. We particularly encourage every profession to step forward and engineer their own solutions. Help make your corner of the world a better place, because most likely, no one knows where change is needed more than those with the power to right old wrongs.
Never listen to the nay-sayers. If you are alive, you can change.
